STATEMENT OF JS JPKF

On the 16th of November the Georgian party once more backed out of scheduled monitoring in the area of 15 km to the south of settlement Shavshvebi where recently a radar station of Air Defence of Georgia had been discovered. The object of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia illegally placed in the zone of conflict is guarded by the armed divisions and forces of Military Police of Georgia. As is well known on the 2nd of November 2006 the Georgian party already hampered the monitoring of this object motivating their decision by inability to provide safety to the group of the officers of JS in case of possible activities from the direction of military police of Georgia. Commander of Joint Staff general-major Marat Kulahmetov has informed co-chairmen of Joint Control Commission and leadership of the mission of OSCE in Georgia of the fixed facts of breaches of the accepted agreements. In spite of the JS JPKF demands Georgian side continues to evade conducting of monitoring in the zone of responsibility of JF according to their mandate. JS JPKF reminds that residing of the personnel and military technics of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia in the zone of conflict is at variance with existing arrangements and doesn’t make for the strengthening of the measures of trust between the parties. More over the presence of military police of Georgia in the zone of conflict is a breach of JCC’decision (meeting of JCC on the 2nd of June 2004, protocol №32).
