The Russian-South Ossetian cooperation

Recently it`s being heard the statements about a hypothetical Russian betrayal of one of its closest allies - South Ossetia. Some experts persuade the population that Moscow could agree with the new authorities of Tbilisi behind Tskhinval to withdraw its recognition of the South Ossetian statehood in exchange for the extension of the current cooperation with Georgia. Meanwhile, life has clearly demonstrated that these statements have nothing to do with reality.

Leonid Tibilov: South Ossetia attaches great importance to the Geneva discussions

South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov met with members of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia. Opening the meeting, the President has noted that South Ossetia attaches great importance to the Geneva discussions - the only international platform where is carried on the work on post-conflict settlement.

Tbilisi rhetoric is not very conducive to initiate a dialogue – Sergey Lavrov

Georgia has expressed a desire to normalize relations with Russia, still considering Abkhazia and South Ossetia as the occupied territories. Such rhetoric is not conducive to a dialogue without preconditions. This was declared by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a press conference after a meeting of NATO-Russia Council held at the ministerial level in Brussels December 4.

Russia and South Ossetia will collaborate in a new way - Minister

South Ossetian part of the Intergovernmental Commission on socio- economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia has to draw up a plan of the activities for the coming year by February 1, 2013. This was said by Minister for Economic Development Zalina Khugati at the enlarged meeting of President Leonid Tibilov with the heads of ministries and agencies.

Khoch Gagloyty: The circumstances of firing upon the frontier post of KGB of South Ossetia will be discussed at the MPRI meeting

December 2 between 13.00 - 13.50 a.m. an armed incident took place in the area about one kilometer to the south-east of the village of Tsnelis in Znaur district of South Ossetia.
As reported to IA "Res" by Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Khoch Gagloyty, a group of the border guards of KGB of South Ossetia, consisting of three people was patrolling the border area along the Fronsky gorge, which runs at 1.5 km to the south-east of Tsnelis.

The ICRC will hold explanatory discussions with a population of South Ossetia about the threat of unexploded shells

The Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia is planning to hold explanatory discussions with the population of the Republic due to the threat of mines and other explosive shells, left in the territory of South Ossetia since the war in August 2008. This decision was made by the ICRC management after the accident, in the result of which on November 24 a resident of the Ossetian village of Mugut (Znaur district, South Ossetia) had been blown up by a mine, while grazing cattle.
