Deputy Foreign Minister of South Ossetia met with a delegation of the Republic of Nauru

Last week Moscow hosted a meeting of First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Kazbulat Tskhovrebov with the delegation of the Republic of Nauru, headed by the Assistant to the President, the Minister of Finance and Justice David Adeang.

During the meeting they discussed topical issues of South Ossetian-Nauru relations, further steps to deepen bilateral political dialogue, strengthening of multifaceted cooperation, as well as specific topics on the international agenda.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia conveyed the delegation of Nauru the invitation of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia to visit South Ossetia, which was kindly accepted by David Adeang.

The visit of the delegation of the Republic of Nauru, led by David Adeang to the Republic of South Ossetia, is expected on April 21, during which is scheduled a meeting with the President Leonid Tibilov and Foreign Minister David Sanakoev.

Delegation of Italy, headed by Professor Mauro Murgia, arrived in South Ossetia

A delegation from Italy headed by the President of the Friendship Society Italy - South Ossetia, Professor Mauro Murgia, has arrived in South Ossetia on a working visit.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, "with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia on April 21 will be opened a photo exhibition of the Italian photographer Leonardo Mattioli "South Ossetia: the country and the people", organized with the participation of the President of the Friendship Society Italy - South Ossetia, Professor Mauro Murgia".

The photo exhibition will be opened in the Concert Hall "Chermen", tomorrow, April 21, at 11:00.

Ossetian fighter won silver at the world hand-to-hand combat championship

Fighter from South Ossetia Ruslan Besaev (weight class up to 90 kg) has become a silver medalist of the third world hand-to-hand combat championship, completed yesterday in Moscow.
As reported by the Committee on Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of South Ossetia, Besaev in the final match lost to the Russian athlete, world champion Roman Kopylov.
During the preliminary fights our athlete has shown good results, but, unfortunately, in the final match lost to his opponent.
In the championship have also participated other athletes from South Ossetia: Spartak Tskhovrebov (weight class up to 70 kg.), Shamil Jabiyev (weight class up to 75 kg.), Alan Pukhaev (weight class up to 80 kg.), George Pukhaev (weight class up to 85 kg.) and George Gabaraev (weight class over 95 kg.).
In the third world hand-to-hand combat championship participated athletes from 47 countries. More than 160 fighters were fighting for the title in nine men's and eight women's weight classes.
The fighters from South Ossetia were participating for the first time in the world hand-to-hand combat championship.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in Venezuela is on an official visit to the Bolivarian Republic

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Daniel Tibilov is on an official visit to Venezuela, reports the website of the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia.

April 15, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela in Caracas hosted the meeting of the Ambassador with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delsey Rodriguez. During the meeting Daniel Tibilov submitted the copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further development of relations between the two countries.

Murat Gassiev defended his IBF title Intercontinental

South Ossetian boxer Murat (Iron) Gassiev defeated the famous American boxer Felix Cora Jr, defending the IBF Intercontinental title of world champion.
The bout took place this morning in Connecticut, United States as part of the boxing show and became the main event of the evening.
According to the press service of the athlete, Gassiev knocked out his opponent during the 10 round, noting that it was a very heavy fight to Murat.
Murat Gassiev is the IBF (International boxing federation) European champion, the IBF world champion, the WBC World Youth champion.
Murat Gassiev represents the Ural Boxing Promotion Company; he is coached by Abel Sanchez and Vitaly Slanov.

Alexander Totoonov: Republic of Nauru, far from the Caucasus, became very close to us

The Chairman of the Commission for Co-operation of the Federation Council and the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia Alexander Totoonov participated in a meeting with a delegation of the Republic of Nauru, headed by the Vice-President and Minister of Finance David Adeang, who is in Moscow on a working visit.
According to the senator`s assistant, during the meeting were discussed the issues of bilateral relations. The participants gave a positive assessment of the development of cooperation in the field of fishery, as well as Russia's help in personnel training for Nauru.
One of the topics of the meeting was diplomatic relations between the State of Nauru and the Republic of South Ossetia.
December 16, 2009 Nauru officially recognized the independence of South Ossetia.
Republic of Nauru is located on a coral island in the western Pacific Ocean, 42 km south of the equator. The independence was proclaimed in 1968. The state is part of the Commonwealth of Nations. September 14, 1999 the Republic of Nauru was admitted to the UN.
Nauru is a member of the South Pacific Commission and the Pacific Islands Forum.
During the meeting Alexander Totoonov has noted that he represents in the upper house not only the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, but all the Ossetian people on both sides of the main Caucasian ridge.
"We have one heart and one soul; the boundaries do not hinder our unity. Therefore, the fate of the independent state of South Ossetia is not indifferent to me, as well as the fate of my native Republic ", - said the senator.
Referring to the historical events of 2009, Alexander Totoonov said: "For us, the Ossetians, the decision of the Republic of Nauru to recognize South Ossetia was a landmark event. Despite the total diplomatic disregard and peculiar political blockade of South Ossetia, the young island republic took on great responsibility. This courageous and very important step will remain in the grateful memory of all representatives of our people and the future generations.
Far from the Caucasus, Republic of Nauru became very close to us ", - said Alexander Totoonov.
The senator told the delegation that "the nearest way to South Ossetia is through the North", and invited them to visit the region.
David Adeang thanked the Russian side for their help and support and said that he gladly accepted the invitation to visit Ossetia.

South Ossetian State University was admitted to the Eurasian Association of Universities

South Ossetian State University has become a full member of the Eurasian Association of Universities.
The XIII Congress of the Eurasian Association of Universities, held today at the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, was attended by a delegation of the South Ossetian State University, headed by the rector Vadim Tedeev.
At the plenary session of the Congress South-Ossetian State University was admitted to the Association.
The Eurasian Association of Universities was established at the founding congress in 1989 as the Association of Universities of the USSR, on the initiative of the Moscow State University, supported by the twenty largest universities in the Soviet Union. In 1992, the Association was reorganized into the Eurasian Association of Universities.
The Eurasian Association of Universities is an authoritative international organization of universities. It includes national universities of the CIS countries, the leading regional universities and higher education institutions of the Eurasian space.
The Eurasian Association unites 128 universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The highest governing body of the Eurasian Association is the Congress of the Association.
The Association carries out its activities through numerous conferences, forums, inter-institutional ties and contacts.
The President of the Eurasian Association of Universities is the Rector of the Moscow State University, vice president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy.

Znaur Gassiev attended the IV International Parliamentary Forum in Moscow

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev took part in the in Moscow IV International Parliamentary Forum.
The forum, the theme was which was "The role of parliaments in ensuring international security in modern conditions", was organized by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Opening the forum, the Сhairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin, said that "Russia was and will advocate for the concept of a Greater Europe, for partnership stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok, noting that parliamentary diplomacy is also obliged to play its role in this.
During his speech, Sergei Naryshkin invited the meeting to consider the transformation of the forum in a new international organization. The MP has emphasized that the main objective of the project is a dialogue to strengthen international law and trust.

The forum was attended by more than 200 participants from 42 countries, including nine international organizations - executives and members of parliament, representatives of the expert community of the CIS countries, European countries, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The forum was also attended by the Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov.

In the course of the forum was also discussed the situation in the modern world around the migration relations, the reasons for its growth as a result of armed conflicts, the challenges facing states, and cooperation of the parliaments in matters of migration policy. Participants also talked about the challenges facing the states, cooperation of the parliaments in matters of migration policy, the role of parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations in strengthening the rule of international law and security.

Easter Sunday is being celebrated in South Ossetia

The Orthodox people of South Ossetia are celebrating Easter Sunday. On Sunday night at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval took place a festive liturgy, chanted by the archpriest of the Tskhinval churches Jacob Khetagurov.
The liturgy was attended by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Parliament Speaker Anatoly Bibilov, representatives of the Government and Parliament of the Republic, as well as the Orthodox of South Ossetia.

Hundreds of the faithful gathered on the church square, taking part in a cross procession around the temple. At the end of the liturgy the priest congratulated the Orthodox parishioners, noting that the Holy Easter is celebrated as a symbol to begin a new life.
"Easter is a celebration of joy, celebration of life, we will pray for the wellbeing, and thank the Lord for peace," - said the priest.

Leonid Tibilov addressed the people of the Republic wishing them peace and kindness.
"I want to wish all the citizens health, peace, prosperity, strength of mind and God's help in all matters. Christ is risen! "- Said the head of state.

After the solemn liturgy the priests of the Alan diocese traditionally consecrated Easter cakes and eggs, and then the parishioners congratulated each other on Easter.

State Committee for Information and Press of South Ossetia and International News Agency "Russia Today" signed a Cooperation Agreement

State Committee of Information and Press of South Ossetia and International News Agency "Russia Today" have agreed on cooperation to broader and more effective coverage of important events in political, social, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, sports and other areas of Russia and South Ossetia.
The relevant "Agreement on information cooperation" was signed on April 8 in Moscow by the Chairman of the RSO State Committee of Information and Press of South Ossetia Vyacheslav Gobozov and CEO of International News Agency "Russia Today" Dmitry Kiselev.
According to the document, "Russia Today" opens representative office in South Ossetia, to which the South Ossetian news agency has promised to "create favorable conditions" for working.
It is also expected to organize and conduct on the basis of the agency or its partner’s internships, workshops and seminars on retraining of journalists’ media of the RSO. In addition, "Russia Today" will facilitate direct contacts and cooperation of South Ossetia with the media of the Russian Federation and other countries.
The Agreement also states that representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia will take part in international events held under the auspices of "Russia Today", and representatives of the news - in actions and activities held by the public authorities of South Ossetia.
