The President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity received Ambassadors of OSCE. The delegation consisted of Maria Piya Kotbauer – Ambassador of Liechtenstein in OSCE, Mette Kongshem – Ambassador of Norway, Aksel Berg – Ambassador of Spain in OSCE, Luis Martines Montes – Advisor to the Ambassador of Spain in OSCE, Garry Kamarainen – Senior Programme Office of OSCE. In the meeting also participated State Advisor to the President of RSO Konstantin Kochiev; First Deputy Prime Minister of RSO, Chairman of the South-Ossetian side of the JCC Boris Chochiev; Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Dzhioev.

Eduard Kokoity expressed his gratitude to the OSCE Ambassadors for their attention to the problems of South Ossetia, he again confirmed the position of the South-Ossetian side directed solely to the peaceful conflict resolution. “There is no alternative to the peaceful process”, - declared the President.

During the meeting the President informed the guests about the recent situation in South Ossetia and expressed his concerns about the capture of the citizens of South Ossetia. “The recent events show that Georgia does not intend to solve the conflict by peaceful means. These provocations demonstrate that Georgia does not plan to refuse forceful conflict resolution. The Government of Georgia refuses to organize meetings of the four side high level politicians, the Georgian side of the JCC refuse to sign a Memorandum on safety guarantees”. The president again expressed the readiness of South Ossetia to make real efforts for conflict resolution.

“We consider ourselves as part of Europe and are ready to make every effort for keeping peace. The South-Ossetian side is ready to create a working group on working out common plan that would suite all the sides. We declared 2006 as the year of peace and stability and decreased our military forces by 50%, when the Georgian side increase them by 50%”.
