According to the yearly report of the “Stockholm International Institute on Peace Research” the authorities of Georgia in 2005 spent 146 million dollars for purchasing of arms, which is half as much as in 2004. Georgia has surpassed all the countries of the world in spending money for arms. Besides the large scale purchases of weapons, the Georgian armed forces were presented by a number of Eastern European countries with a large number of military equipment.
In 2005 the Czech Republic, Macedonia and Bulgaria handed over to Georgia big number of infantry arms free of charge.
The report of Stockholm International Institute has again proved that despite the official devotion of Tbilisi to peaceful resolution of conflict situations, preparations to war in Georgian army are going on in full speed.
