A press-conference of the Central Election Commission held at the CEC Informational Center “Parliamentary Election 2009”

A press-conference of the RSO Central Election Commission (CEC) member Christina Avlokhova was held at the CEC Informational Center “Parliamentary Election 2009” to focus on “hotline” work. The hotline was established to ensure that every citizens, every observer or journalist might receive information about the election participants, location of polling stations, voting procedure, and other issues related to election legislature.
Ch.Avlokhova informed that it has been for the first time in South Ossetia that a hotline is used for election process. Two free of charge telephone line were available to voters. The hotline is functioning from 18 May, from 30 May it is operating round the clock.
“The hotline work results clearly showed that our citizens are not indifferent towards the election, they are concerned about strict observance of all procedures, inform about certain issues they are worried about in the work of the election commissions, make their suggestion and address their requests”, said Avlokhova. “By 30 May, the hotline received 29 calls, on 30 May – 15, today the number reached 28 calls by 14:00.”
Citizens of the Republic who happened to be abroad on the election day, also demonstrated their interest towards the election. The hotline received calls from Volgograd, Vladikavkaz, Novosibirsk, Moscow and other cities.
