The visit of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to the Republic of South Ossetia is an important event not only for South Ossetia, but for the world policy. This is a sign of deep-rooted, well-thought and democratic actions. This is the real and constructive action by the Super Power targeted exclusively at peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The visit of Dmitry Medvedev once again proved the positive role of Russia in the Caucasus policy.
Concrete and realistic approach in Russia’s strategy is obvious.
The visit of Dmitry Medvedev was long awaited. South Ossetia has a special attitude towards Russia, a respect based on centuries old links.
During the visit, the sides once again confirmed the strategy for further cooperation in accordance with the international and legal documents signed between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

The cooperation in economic and social spheres will continue. Reconstruction project will be implemented in South Ossetia destroyed by Georgian aggression. Until there is a real security threat in South Ossetia coming from Georgia, Russia is and will be providing assistance in defense.
By supporting South Ossetia, Russia is maintaining peace and stability in the region, being the deterrent factor towards the aggressive, militarist regime in Georgia, the impunity of which continues to bear threats to security and peace.
It is Russia who supports democratic processes in the South Caucasus repulsing those who replaces them with pseudo-democracy. Russia’s support provides opportunities to South Ossetia to recover economically and psychologically, and to apply its national potential. Apart from the political significance, the visit of Dmitry Medvedev had an important moral and psychological effect.
Through years, South Ossetia had to face political cynicism and disregard towards the interests of small people by “democracy monopolists” in the West and the United States.
Russia is peace and stability in the Caucasus.
To support Georgia today is a maleficent policy, the policy of adventurism and lies.
Today, Georgia needs help to get rid of aggressiveness and nationalistic hysteria. This state remains the main destabilizing factor in the Caucasus.
