The authorities of South Ossetia are intending to agree on the presence of international observers on the territory of the Republic, said the RSO President at his meeting with the delegation of the RF Federal Council. He noted that this position of the authorities was not new.
"We are categorically against of any kind of observers, who instead of monitoring the situation, carry out intelligence functions. This has been proved through the events of August 2008, when the OSCE monitors had left the territory of South Ossetia beforehand.

While they had all the possibilities and leverages to influence Georgia's actions, they did nothing. They did not make any serious statements before the international community and did not condemn Georgia's actions", explained the president. He underlined that in South Ossetia, international monitors did no enjoy any trust. "The EU monitors, like the OSCE monitors, are blind to the violations committed by the Georgian side -the movements of the Georgian armed forces and armored equipment. We are concerned with the statements of the EUMM Hansjorg Haber, who spoke the presence of the monitors aimed at preventing further international recognition of South Ossetia", said the president.
"We are not going to let international monitors on our territory", stated Eduard Kokoity.
It is worth reminding that the official delegation of the RF Federal Council headed by the Council Committee for defense and security Evgeny Serebrennikov is visiting South Ossetia.
