Citizens of Georgia detained in South Ossetia for illegally crossing the border

On 18 July 2010, at the attempted illegal crossing of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia, the duty team of the Border-Guard Deparment of the RF FSB in South Ossetia detained Georgian citizens in the village of Lopan, Znaur district, reported the Border-Guard Department of the RSO KGB.
According to the information provided by the KGB, "Samkharadze Alik Yurievich, 1976, Samkharadze Besik Yurievich, 1982, Kalatozeshvili Nikoloz Shakroevich, 1983, Labadze Ramaz Petrovich, 1976, Labadze Yamze Petrovna, 1978, Khomsuridze Nargiz Arsenovna, 1967, tried to leave South Ossetia for Kareli district of Georgia bypassing the official checkpoints.

In accordance with the "Agreement on joint efforts on the protection of the state border of South Ossetian with Georgia", and the Law of South Ossetia "On the State Border", the detained persons were handed over to the Border-Guard Service of South Ossetia. "After immediate investigative action, the women – Khomsuridze Nargiz and Labadze Yamze, who had illegally crossed the borderline with a three-year old child, were released after signing a written undertaking not to leave the place, and are currently at their relatives in South Ossetia.
Other Georgia citizens are presently under detention, the investigation is ongoing. As soon as the circumstances of their violation are identified, their cases will be submitted to the court for a final decision", reported the press service.
