South Ossetia Calls On International Community Not To Politicize Humanitarian Issues

South Ossetia called on the international community to avoid the politicization of humanitarian issues in the South Caucasus and to follow the example of the Russian Federation and take part in the recovery after the devastating consequences of the Georgian aggression of August 2008, the Head of the South Ossetian delegation to the international discussions on security in the Caucasus, the South Ossetian President's Plenipotentiary Boris Chochiev reports by telephone from Geneva.

"During the 13th round of international discussions in Geneva, the delegation of South Ossetia appealed the international community to follow the example of the Russian Federation, which has been actively involved in rehabilitation of sites destroyed during the Georgian aggression, and avoid politicization of humanitarian issues. We call on all countries and international organizations to take part in reconstruction of buildings destroyed as a result of Georgian aggression, the way Russia does it, " says the official.
The 13th round of Geneva discussions on security in the Caucasus was held on October 14. Delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russian Federation, the United States, as well as representatives of the EU, UN and OSCE participate in the Discussions. The next round is scheduled for December 16 in Geneva.
