An extraordinary meeting of the Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI) is being held in the Georgian village of Zardiantkari, which is located at the border with South Ossetia.

A tough situation, which has arisen as a result of setting up the police post in Zardiantkari by the Georgian authorities, is being discussed at the meeting. The meeting is attended by representatives of South Ossetia, Russia and Georgia, with the participation of the OSCE and EUMM.
It should be reminded that June 29 Interior Ministry of Georgia removed the police station a few hundred meters closer to the state border of South Ossetia, to the village of Zardiantkari (Georgia), which is located across from the South Ossetian village of Khelchua. This caused great tension among the residents of these villages.
Convened in connection with this the MPRI emergency meeting on July 1, did not produce the concrete results.
