The main problem of refugees and internally displaced persons in South Ossetia is still a shortage of housing.
As IA "Res" has been reported by a Chairman of the RSO Committee on Migration Policy Vladimir Ushakov, "settling the refugees and internally displaced persons needs enormous financial expenses and is difficult to be solved in a short period of time.

"The top priority should be given to addressing the issue of providing housing for the refugees and IDPs, living in the collective accommodation centersof temporary residence, a large majority of whom are still living there," – clarified Ushakov.
"Currently, five hostels-former schools and other facilities -are still occupied by 137 families," - said Ushakov.
He has added, that at the moment, in all, are registered 1035 families.
"This group includes 411 refugee families, 420 IDP families and 204 affected families, which have returned to their homes," - said the official.
According to him, for today, 70 families of refugees and IDPs have already been provided housing.
"Among them are the families, which are provided houses and apartments in the micro-districts "Moscow", "Sunny"," Nursery Garden" and in the settlement Tbet – underlined Ushakov. There were also acquired apartments on the commission's decision of the Government of the Republic of South Ossetiaat the expense of the budget allocations in 2008. "
Ushakov has emphasized that the IDPs were provided immediate assistance.
"Many international organizations built 37standard blockhouses and provided building materials to rebuild the destroyed houses," - he said.
Ushakov has also said that since October, 2012 the Committee has been conducting a regular re-registration.
"During the re-registration it is necessary to establish an exact number of the internally displaced persons, to assess the status of each of them and make a decision on further settling of those persons who are registered by the Committee on Migration Policy," - said Ushakov.
According to him, after the completion of the re-registration the RSO Committee on Migration Policy will develop a program for returning the rural population to their homes.
