The Russian Federation will continue to support the statehood and sovereignty of the Republic of South Ossetia, regardless of the context of the Russian-Georgian relations. This has been stated by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia at a recent meeting in Moscow with Foreign Minister of South Ossetia David Sanakoev, who arrived in the Russian capital on an official visit together with the RSO Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.

"We held meetings at the Foreign Ministry of Russia, during which we discussed the issues of bilateral relations as well as the process of the Geneva discussions. It was once again confirmed that the course of relations between our countries would be the same, determined by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The Russian Federation will continue to support the development and strengthening of the statehood of the Republic of South Ossetia", - said Sanakoev.
During the meetings with Russian colleagues, was discussed a wide range of issues, including several agreements being prepared to be signed by both countries.
The Presidential Envoy Murat Dzhioev has said that during the discussion of bilateral Russian-South Ossetian relations was raised the issue of the place of South Ossetia in the current Russian-Georgian relations, in the light of the emerging contacts between Moscow and Tbilisi,
"Once again, we have been assured that in the current Russian-Georgian relations, the issue of South Ossetia is not raised at all. Our colleagues stressed that Russia was going to improve relations with Georgia in the areas of culture, transport and trade. But the issues of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in any way will not be raised, "- said the envoy.
According to Dzhioev, it was also touched upon the issue of the recent visit of the delegation from Georgia to the North Caucasus.
"We have noted what the risks are such trips to Russia itself. The Russian Foreign Ministry was not aware of it, promised to clear up all, the more that these visits had been initiated by representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation and the Moscow State Institute of International Affairs.
In particular, one of them - Silaev - a former member of the staff of the Moscow State Institute of International Affairs, now is a member of the staff of the Russian Presidential Administration, "- specified Dzhioev.
