Topical issues of South Ossetia and its foreign policy aspects were discussed at the round table in Tskhinval, held at the Media Center "IR." The round table was attended by leaders of social organizations, political parties, members of parliament and the government, as well as the experts of the Media Center "IR."

The round table discussed the Russian-Georgian relations and their impact on the current situation in South Ossetia.
According to the South Ossetian expert, politician, leader of the party "Fydybaestae" Vyacheslav Gobozov, rapprochement between Russia and Georgia over the past few months is the most debated issue in the post-Soviet space.
"Of course, the" thaw "in the relationship is still very declarative; however, it is an undeniable political fact and very dynamic political process - said Gobozov. - Of course, this process has caused great attention in South Ossetia."
Gobozov has noted that leaders of the "Georgian Dream" as the previous government of Georgia expect to return the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by bringing about a rapprochement between Georgia and Russia.
"This is borne out both by official and unofficial representatives of Georgia - said Gobozov. - However, there is no reason to believe that Russia could "yield up" South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and withdraw the recognition de jure of these states. This fact is confirmed by the repeated statements of the top leadership of Russia. Russia's position on relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia is clearly reflected in the concept of its foreign policy. Moreover, there is no such institution as "a review of the recognition," in the international law; it would be a gross violation of the international law. "
President of the Media Center "IR" Irina Gagloeva, in turn, noted the importance of the foreign policy issues for the Republic.
"We have a lot of potential - it is in the desire to see our country the independent, to see improvement of our statehood, going forward, and this is, of course, in the context of relations with Russia and other countries, which have recognized our independence," - stressed Gagloeva.
The round table participants also noted the need to work closely with the Caucasus republics, Ossetian communities, diasporas of the near and the far abroad.
"We are working hard to strengthen the positions of our state. In this issue it is very important a concept of the foreign policy of the Republic, the development of our country, "- said the Minister of Foreign Affairs David Sanakoev.
According to the Speaker of Parliament Stanislaus Kochiev, today is the main problem of the Republic is its domestic policy.
"However, we have to keep to our opinion and follow the path of development of our state, because now we know betterwhat we want to see in the future", - said the Speaker.
The need to preserve the South Ossetian army in the development of the state, to ensure its safety, was also discussed at the round table.
Upon completion of the round table discussion, the participants noted the importance of presentation of the Republic beyondthe borders of the country, cooperation with the Ossetian Diasporas abroad and with the North Caucasian republics.
