Easter is being celebrated in South Ossetia

Orthodox Christians in South Ossetia are celebrating Easter. On the night of Sunday at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval was a solemn public liturgy in honor of the holiday, held by the Archpriest of the Tskhinval churches, priest Jacob Khetagurov.

The festive liturgy was attended by President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov, head of Presidential Administration Boris Chochiev, First Deputy Prime Minister Guram Melkoev and other members of the government of South Ossetia.
After the completion of the festive liturgy people gathered at the Church Square performed a cross procession.
In an interview with reporters, Leonid Tibilov congratulated the people of South Ossetia on the bright holiday of Christ's Resurrection.
"This holiday is a symbol of faith and good. Let these days bring joy and happiness to residents of the Republic,"- he said.
At the church square the parishioners also congratulated each other on the Resurrection.
"I believe, this Orthodox feast is a symbol of the victory of life over death, and it is very important for the people of South Ossetia. After going through hardships of the war, we were able to revive life in all its beauty and grandeur.
