In Geneva South Ossetia again offered Georgia mutual release of prisoners

During the 26 round of Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia South Ossetian delegation pointed out the destabilizing orientation of the provocative actions of the Georgian side to heighten information tension, speculating in the interests of residents of the border villages in connection with the demarcation activities carried out by the relevant authorities of the RSO. This is stated in the final report of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva talks.

South Ossetian representatives have once again proposed to the Georgian side to start working together on the delimitation of the border.
At the same time, the security group has noted relative stability of the situation on the border of South Ossetia and Abkhazia with Georgia, characterized by the decreased number of border violations.
The participants of the Geneva discussions noted the positive value of the joint Mechanisms to prevent and respond to incidents (MPRI), conducting monthly meetings at the South Ossetian -Georgian border.
As at the previous meetings, the main topic of the meeting was the discussion of non-use of force that is also the main objective of the discussions.
"Taking into account that the Georgian delegation once again was not prepared to discuss the current drafts of bilateral agreements on the non-use of force, as well as to agree the text of the joint statement on commitment to the principle of non-use of force, the South Ossetian delegation put forward a proposal to the discussants at least verbally to express their commitment to the non-use of force. The Georgian delegation was not ready even for such a declaration ", - is emphasized in the report.
As part of the overall security situation and the humanitarian situation were discussed issues related to the search for the missing persons.
In this regard, the second working group of representatives of South Ossetia presented video material confirming that some citizens of South Ossetia, considered to be missing, were in the hands of Georgian security structures. South Ossetian officials also reiterated their proposal to the Georgian side on mutual release of prisoners.
In conclusion was held a joint meeting of the two working groups on the results of the round.
The next meeting is scheduled for late March 2014.
It should be reminded that December 17-18 in Geneva was held the 26 round of Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the United States, as well as the EU, UN and OSCE representatives. South Ossetian delegation was headed by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.
