In Tskhinval was marked the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan

Today in South Ossetia is being celebrated the 25th anniversary of the execution of the international combat mission in Afghanistan by the USSR Armed Forces.
In honor of this date in Tskhinval took place a solemn meeting. Acting Prime Minister of South Ossetia Domenty Kulumbegov congratulated all veterans of the war in Afghanistan and read out the congratulatory address of President Leonid Tibilov.

"You were able to solve the military mission in Afghanistan. Your heroism and courage helped you to survive during the Georgian -Ossetian conflict. Let me congratulate you on this day, I wish you and your families peace and prosperity, health and success,"- said Kulumbegov.
He has assured that the South Ossetian leadership will provide full support to the families of veterans of war and soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
In response, the Chairman of the Union of Afghan War Veterans Murat Guchmazov thanked the leadership of the Republic for the attention and support to veterans of the war in Afghanistan, as well as to their families.
He noted that about 200 citizens of South Ossetia had been in action through the war in Afghanistan, six of them had not returned home.
"Many soldiers-Afghans gave their lives for the freedom and independence of South Ossetia", - he stressed.
In the course of the event was also held the ceremony of conferring state awards. On behalf of the head of state the awards to Ossetian soldiers-internationalists presented Domenty Kulumbegov.
Pupils of the Tskhinval boarding school read memorable verses in honor of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. After the official part of the event the audience was presented a screening of the documentary film about the war in Afghanistan and then took place a festive concert.
