Leonid Tibilov: South Ossetia is expecting to sign a new treaty on alliance with Russia

New external challenges and threats require from South Ossetia to sign a new treaty of alliance and partnership with Russia. This was stated by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, speaking at a meeting of the Government of the Republic.

"We are waiting for the signing of the agreement with the Russian Federation on alliance and partnership. It is based on a large contract signed in the post-war period. Since then, a long time elapsed, there are new challenges and threats in the world, external factors indicate the need to sign a new document, "- said the head of state.
He has explained that the experts of the administrations of presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia are developing a new draft document; there are the first proposals, which are under consideration.
"Consultations with our Russian colleagues are under way, we intend to work together to discuss all the proposals. It is planned in the near future to examine a number of documents. The Parliament, parties and lawyers will be involved in this work. We need to draw up a document that will meet the interests of our state, the requirements of the Constitution. The new Treaty will be a fundamental document for further development of relations with Russia", - said Leonid Tibilov.
