The Orthodox people of South Ossetia are celebrating Easter Sunday. On Sunday night at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval took place a festive liturgy, chanted by the archpriest of the Tskhinval churches Jacob Khetagurov.
The liturgy was attended by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Parliament Speaker Anatoly Bibilov, representatives of the Government and Parliament of the Republic, as well as the Orthodox of South Ossetia.

Hundreds of the faithful gathered on the church square, taking part in a cross procession around the temple. At the end of the liturgy the priest congratulated the Orthodox parishioners, noting that the Holy Easter is celebrated as a symbol to begin a new life.
"Easter is a celebration of joy, celebration of life, we will pray for the wellbeing, and thank the Lord for peace," - said the priest.

Leonid Tibilov addressed the people of the Republic wishing them peace and kindness.
"I want to wish all the citizens health, peace, prosperity, strength of mind and God's help in all matters. Christ is risen! "- Said the head of state.

After the solemn liturgy the priests of the Alan diocese traditionally consecrated Easter cakes and eggs, and then the parishioners congratulated each other on Easter.
