The authorities of South Ossetia have promised a reward for information about missing persons

The issues of searching for missing citizens of South Ossetia were discussed by the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the RSO on post-conflict settlement issues Murat Dzhioev and the independent expert Dushan Ignatovich who, at the invitation of the OSCE, is investigating the case of the citizens of South Ossetia to be listed missing after the 2008 August war.
According to the press service of the Presidential Envoy, during the conversation the South Ossetian side expressed satisfaction with the extension of Dushan Ignatovich's mandate.
Murat Dzhioev thanked Mr. Dusan Ignatovich for his efforts to clarify the fate of those who are considered missing, expressed the hope that the recommendations contained in his reports on the fate of young people abducted in October 2008 from the territory of South Ossetia and listed as missing on the territory of Georgia, will be carried out by the relevant authorities of this country.
The South Ossetian diplomat has stressed that the issue of clarifying the fate of missing citizens is one of the priorities for the leadership of South Ossetia, which guarantees a large monetary reward for information about their whereabouts.
Dušan Ignatowicz also met with relatives of the Republic's citizens, who are listed missing.
The meetings were attended by the Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights of the RSO Inal Tasoev.
