Sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia discovered American grenades in South Ossetia

The detachment of the "Leader" Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations under the leadership of Colonel Aleksei Kudyakov continued carrying out pyrotechnic works related to the search for and defusing of explosive objects in the Republic of South Ossetia.
According to thepress service of the center, over the past few days with the help of drones, a total area of ​​10,000 m2 was surveyed, after which the center specialists, using robotic sappers, carried out mechanical cleaning of the area.
At the next stage, directly the pyrotechnic groups of the "Leader" began to clear of mines.
As a result, the sappers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry managed to find and defuse several ammunition over the weekend, including grenades produced in the US.
For May 19, three explosive objects were found and defused: one artillery shell of 23 mm caliber and two hand grenades MK 2A1 (USA), as well as VOG-25".
Having started on April 17, the works on demining the "Spider" height in Tskhinval district of South Ossetia, where in 2004-2008 took place fierce battles, the sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Measures of the Russian Federation discovered and defused 83 explosive objects, including dozens of artillery shells and grenades.
It should be noted that the works on demining the territory of South Ossetia are carried out on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, in accordance with the agreements of the leadership of the two countries.
The areas to be cleared of explosive objects are determined by the South Ossetian side .
In 2017, the detachment of the "Leader" center cleared 30.6 hectares, detonated and destroyed 105 explosive objects.
In 2016 sappers of the "Leader" center cleared more than 50 hectares of the territory around the village of Ered in Tskhinval district. Then it was discovered more than 300 different ammunition.
