President of the Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik accepted the invitation of the head of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and intends to take part in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the recognition of independence of the RSO on August 26, 2018.
As reported by "Izvestia" referring to the official representative of the RS in Russia Dusko Perovic, Milorad Dodik accepted the invitation of South Ossetia to visit the Republic.
"President of the Republika Srpska has established good contact with the leadership of South Ossetia. So, of course, he accepted the invitation and wants to come to the 10th anniversary of the celebration of the independence of the Transcaucasian country," said a representative of the RS.
According to Dusko Perovic, the only thing that can hamper the visit is the election campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina, since in August Milorad Dodik had a tight work schedule connected with holding meetings with voters. However, the leader of the Republic will try to attend the events in Tskhinval.
"Now we are actively developing cultural cooperation. For example, South Ossetian schoolchildren will soon arrive in the Republika Srpska to take part in the international chess tournament. The competition will also be attended by children from different Balkan states, Russia and other countries," the RS representative in Russia has noted.
During the visit of the President of South Ossetia to Republika Srpska in early 2018, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the two countries, which implies the development of relations in the sphere of economy, agriculture, tourism, culture and sport.
It was also signed the agreement between the leading parties of South Ossetia and Republika Srpska - "United Ossetia" and the "Union of Independent Social-Democrats of the RS".
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the recognition of South Ossetia's independence, the Republic's authorities also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Syrian leader Bashar Assad and representatives of other countries.
