Dzhioev and Astabatsyan agreed to activate the search for missing persons

The Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement, Murat Dzhioev, and the head of the South Ossetian office of the International Committee of the Red Cross Ashot Astabatsyan at a meeting in Tskhinval agreed to activate the work of the tripartite mechanism to search for the missing persons.

According to the office of the Plenipotentiary, the next meeting of the tripartite mechanism is scheduled for mid-November.

In the course of the conversation, were discussed issues related to clarifying the fate of the missing persons since 1991-1992 and 2008. The meeting participants expressed a general understanding of the revitalization of the 3-way mechanism for the search for the missing persons, operating under the auspices of the ICRC”.

The Presidential Envoy has added that during the meeting were also discussed other issues related to the ICRC’s humanitarian activities in South Ossetia.

The meeting was also attended by Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights Inal Tasoev, Deputy Plenipotentiary Envoy Yegor Kochiev, head of the Protection Department of the ICRC office Victoria Romanova, ICRC office employee Nana Tedeeva.
