The South Ossetian party expects that its proposals for improving the effectiveness of the Geneva discussions on the preparation of a document on non-use of force will receive a positive impetus at the talks in Geneva, said Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy, the head of the South Ossetian delegation in Geneva, Murat Dzhioev.

The Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia start on Tuesday, April 2, and will be held for two days.

As reported to the news agency "Res" by the delegation leader, "South Ossetia is always ready to work constructively in the framework of the Geneva discussions and expects that its proposals for improving the effectiveness of the Geneva discussions, primarily in matters related to the preparation of a legally binding instrument on the non-use of force, will give a positive impetus."

The Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia are held since 2008 and remain the only platform for dialogue between Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Representatives of Russia, the USA, the UN, the EU and the OSCE co-chairs also take part in the negotiations. The main goal of the discussions is to reach an agreement on the non-use of force between Tskhinval and Tbilisi, Sukhum and Tbilisi.

The work is traditionally conducted in two working groups - on security and on humanitarian issues.
