The ICRC office in South Ossetia held an information session for the Republic’s security officials

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, the information sessions for representatives of the armed and security forces were organized by the representative office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Republic.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, the event took place on April 9-10 at the South Ossetian State University.

In his opening speech Foreign Minister of the Republic Dmitry Medoev has noted that the ICRC is a reputable independent humanitarian organization, the activities of which will be interesting and useful to learn in more detail, and wished the audience successful work.

The participants of the event were also greeted by Vadim Tedeev, Rector of the South Regional State University, and Ashot Astabatsyan, head of the ICRC office in South Ossetia.

In the first part of the information session, a presentation was held on the activities of the ICRC and its international mandate in the world, in particular, in the Republic of South Ossetia.

Further, the invited ICRC expert on cooperation with the armed forces, O. Bondarenko, made a presentation on "Basics of preventing violations of international humanitarian law and humanitarian consequences; goals of dialogue with the authorities and security forces; international humanitarian law, as the basis of interaction with the authorities and security forces."

There was also a live communication of participants in the "question-answer" format.
