Petersburg and South Ossetia will sign a cooperation agreement in autumn

St. Petersburg Vice-Governor Nikolai Bondarenko and Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia Gennady Bekoev, within the framework of a joint business forum at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that St. Petersburg and South Ossetia would sign a Cooperation Agreement in autumn.

Nikolai Bondarenko among the priority areas for the development of cooperation noted trade and economic relations, tourism, health care and cultural ties. He has also expressed confidence that an organized business forum would give impetus to intensify bilateral contacts.

"In the face of Petersburg, South Ossetia has a reliable partner," he assured.

In turn, Gennady Bekoev presented to the business forum participants a presentation of the economic and investment potential of the Republic of South Ossetia. He also spoke about the actions taken by the government to ensure the sustainable development of the country and attract capital.

Among the special advantages of the Republic, he called the mineral wealth-rich mineral wealth, good climatic conditions favorable for plant growing and gardening, exceptional water and mineral resources, and the availability of healing water and mud for organizing therapeutic and recreational tourism.

It was noted that the simplification of business will be facilitated by the connection of the Republic of South Ossetia in 2018 to the MIR payment system.

Last Friday, the Chambers of Commerce of St. Petersburg and South Ossetia signed a cooperation agreement.

At the round table, representatives of the departments of both regions discussed joint plans, prospects for the development of tourism in the Republic, doing business in South Ossetia, as well as cooperation in the fields of health and exports and features of customs regulation.

“Already, it is possible to sign agreements that will be of a serious and lengthy nature in relations between St. Petersburg and South Ossetia,” said Vice-Governor of the city, Nikolay Bondarenko, speaking of the already existing cooperation with the Republic.

In addition, South Ossetian companies presented their products at the meeting. It may soon appear on the shelves of St. Petersburg stores. Among the products are various meat delicacies, mineral water, wine, brandy and apple.
