Senior Prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of South Ossetia Liana Khetagurova took part in the VIII Regional Conference of the organizations of Russian compatriots living in neighboring countries, which was held in Tashkent. Representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Tajikistan, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia took part in its work.
“The conference program was rich and very interesting. The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Vladimir Tyurdenev,” said Liana Khetagurova. The conference was also addressed by Rustambek Kurbanov, the Chairman of the Committee for Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Oleg Malginov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Compatriots, Metropolitan of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, Head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District Vikenty and many others.

Several plenary sessions were devoted to topical issues of our time: “75 years since Victory Day over fascism. Historical memory and continuity of generations "; “Preservation of spiritual values, cultural identity in the context of integration into the society of compatriots living countries. Prospects for the preservation of the native Russian language in the communities "; "The role of interaction between the youth and the older generation for the preservation of ethno cultural customs and traditions."
The delegate from South Ossetia called the most interesting presentation of the Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Council of the organizations of Russian compatriots in Kyrgyzstan Stanislav Yepifantsev.
Stanislav Yepifantsev is an expert and publicist of the Association of Journalists and Foreign Media, and the Chairman of the board of directors of the Central Asian Institute of the Russian Diaspora. In his opinion, the forum is taking place in a difficult period, in a difficult international situation. “Events in the world have clearly marked the moment that today a blow is being struck on our common values, the inter-ethnic confrontation is unleashing, opposition to integration processes in the post-Soviet space is growing,” Epifantsev stressed.
He believes that in the global world there is a very real battle, if you will, a war of civilizations, the bet in which is the very existence of our common civilization. “I would like to say that the one who wins the struggle for youth, in the struggle for new generations, will win in this war. Under these conditions, educating our young people in the spirit of awareness of our common historical destiny with all nations, our closest neighbors, is one of the important tasks of today,” the expert noted.
Epifantsev in his speech touched upon the work of the "Immortal Regiment" in Kyrgyzstan. “Unlike the current practice of preparing marches in other countries of the world, where the initiators of the action are exclusively the organizations of Russian compatriots, and in most cases only the compatriots themselves participate in the action, we created the Public Headquarters of the Immortal Regiment - Kyrgyzstan,” said the Chairman of the board directors of the Central Asian Institute of the Russian Diaspora. According to him, such a format allows consolidating the most diverse strata of society, organizations and movements. Along with this, there is a formation of groups of volunteers who help to hold informational events on the eve of the holiday and provide assistance to the headquarters on the day of the march.
Results and cultural program
The delegates of the VIII Regional Conference of the organizations of Russian compatriots living in the neighboring countries discussed issues on the agenda and expressed gratitude to the authorities of Uzbekistan for their assistance in organizing this meeting.
The participants, according to Khetagurova, noted the important role of the Russian-speaking communities in strengthening ties between countries and peoples. And they are always ready to support the state policy of the Russian Federation aimed at preserving the Russian ethno-cultural space abroad.
“In addition, the work will continue to consolidate the positive role of the organizations of our compatriots in celebrating the Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War by carrying out activities aimed at preserving the memory of heroic events in Russian history, including the action Immortal Regiment”. It was decided to consider the preparation and implementation of complex events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory as a priority task for the near future, and to continue the comprehensive partnership interaction of compatriots with Russia aimed at preserving the identity and supporting the ethno cultural interests of compatriots in the countries of residence, the RSO delegate said.
The delegates unanimously supported the proposal to expand the practice of holding youth festivals in Russia, rallies, study trips to historic sites of the Russian Federation and noted the positive contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church and other traditional denominations of the Russian diaspora to the process of spiritual development.
