South Ossetia and the LPR signed an Agreement on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations

The document will allow to systematize the established relations between the LPR and South Ossetia and to build closer cooperation.

Foreign Ministers of South Ossetia and the Lugansk People’s Republic. Dmitry Medoev and Vladislav Dainego, signed the Agreement on Diplomatic Relations.

The agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Lugansk People’s Republic was signed in the presence of President Anatoly Bibilov and the head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik.

"Today, in this hall, took place the signing of very important documents for our republics. From this hour, has started working a large Treaty concluded between our republics," On Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. "And from thus hour our republics entered into diplomatic relations. This is a very important step for our countries and peoples that will expand and deepen bilateral relations, "said Medoev.

He has added that the signing of this document is an "important step for the further recognition of the independence" of the LPR. In turn, Dainego reminded that South Ossetia was the first to respond to the call for recognition of the Lugansk People’s Republic.

“Today is five years of our Lugansk People’s Republic, and today we have documented friendly relations with the Republic of South Ossetia, moving to a new level and signing an agreement on concluding diplomatic relations. Today the Treaty between the Luhansk People’s Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia entered into force,” he said.

During the official visit to Lugansk, President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and the head of the Lugansk People’s Republic exchanged instruments of ratification of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the RSO and the LPR, signed in 2018 in Tskhinval.
