For a number of years, Ossetia has been trying to convey to the international community that the accusations of Georgia against the Russian Federation in the “occupation” of the states recognized by it in 2008 are not substantiated except for the ideological and propaganda cover of Georgia’s unsuccessful military aggression against the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, said the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia on Monday.

“Therefore, representatives of Georgia in respected international organizations that continue to live according to the laws of the information war, started by them in August 2008, do not stop at deliberate manipulation of the facts and impose on the international community a convenient picture of distorted reality for Georgia,” the Foreign Ministry said.

On July 7, a resolution on Georgia was passed at the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg, which accused Russia of "occupation" and attempts at the "actual annexation" of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and called for the annulment of the decision on recognizing the independence of the two states.

“To my deep regret, the deputies of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, who voted for the adoption of this resolution, again went on about their Georgian colleagues with many years of experience replicating such documents that have little in common with the existing reality. It is also obvious that the next “creation” of Georgia’s representatives is designed to earn political points in the internal Georgian political processes and is prepared taking into account the Russophobic situation in Georgia today,” the Foreign Ministry’s commentary says.

The Foreign Ministry notes that the OSCE should be better informed than others about the causes and course of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, since it was the OSCE that directly participated in the process of resolving the Georgian-Ossetian conflict from December 1992 to August 2008.

“However, having a group of military observers in Georgia, as in South Ossetia, was unable to either prevent full-scale military aggression by Georgia against South Ossetia, nor later give fundamental assessments of the tragic events resulting from this military adventure,” the Foreign Ministry states.
