The South Ossetian government delegation and business representatives will attend the 61st Damascus International Fair in Syria, which will be held in August and September.

South Ossetia is preparing to open an embassy in Syria, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Dmitry Medoev.

"As for our representation in other countries, I note that South Ossetia has an embassy in the Russian Federation, Nicaragua and Venezuela, Abkhazia, and preparations are under way for the establishment of a diplomatic mission in Damascus. I also consider it appropriate to say about our offices in the countries such as Turkey, Brazil, Italy. This direction is also developing and is of particular interest, "Medoev told RIA Novosti.

In addition, according to Medoev, the high government delegation of South Ossetia and business representatives will visit the 61st Damascus International Fair in Syria, which will be held in August-September.

“We have friendly and business relations with the Syrian Arab Republic from the very beginning. Our delegations have already been to this country several times, there is good contact with representatives of the government, the business community of this country. This year we also received an invitation to visit the 61 South Damascus International Fair. A top government delegation from South Ossetia will head to Syria to attend the opening of this largest fair. Our businessmen will present goods and products of South Ossetia in a pavilion specially allocated for this, "- said Medoev.

Syria announced the recognition of the independence of the Republic on May 29, 2018.
