A scientific - practical Forum will be held in South Ossetia

As part of the celebration of the 130th anniversary of Boris Galati in the capitals of South and North Ossetia, an international scientific-practical forum "Problems of the traditional artistic culture of highland peoples" will be held.

The Forum started on Sunday, July 20, and will be held until July 26.

The conference is dedicated to one of the classics of national ethnomusicology, folklorist, the founder of the Ossetian composer school, and conductor Boris Alexandrovich Galaev (Aslan-Girey Galati, 1889–1976). One of the brightest representatives of the Petersburg (Leningrad) scientific school of folklore, B. Galaev set the vectors for the development of the main directions of the Ossetian musical art and science - composer, conductor, ethnomusicology. In each of the types of creativity he left descendants highly professional samples.

The Forum will include scientific conferences, master classes and field expeditions in the footsteps of B. Galaev, concerts of national academic and traditional music. The conference focuses on the musical cultures of the mountain peoples of various regions of Eurasia in their diversity of traditions, contacts, mutual influences, and historical destinies.

The purpose of the conference is a scientific understanding of the current state, the history of collecting and studying the traditional art of Abkhaz-Adyghe, Ossetian, Kartvelian, Turkic, Slavic, Romance, Germanic and other peoples of Eurasia.

More than 50 scientists from various fields of knowledge will take part in the Forum: these are musicians, composers, sound engineers from Russia, South Ossetia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Germany, Turkey, Austria and other countries of the world.

The scientific program of the Forum will be held on July 21 at the National Scientific Library of North Ossetia and on July 22 at the North Ossetian Institute of Humanitarian and Social Studies. and on July 24, the meeting will be held in the South Ossetian Research Institute and July 25 will continue in the South Ossetian State University in Tskhinval.

On July 23, participants will go on an expedition to the Alagir region of North Ossetia, and on July 26, to the Tskhinvali and Dzau regions of South Ossetia.

In Tskhinval, on the 24th of July, a concert of ethnic music will take place in the B. Galati House Museum.

The project is aimed at strengthening cultural ties between different peoples of Russia and Eurasia, which contributes to peace and sustainable development of mountain regions.

The Forum was organized by the Russian Institute of Art History of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Fund for Culture. A.-G. Galati with the support of the head and the government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and the President of the Republic of South Ossetia.
