President of the Transcaucasian country Anatoly Bibilov spoke about the causes of provocations from Georgia

The Republic of South Ossetia (RSO) will strengthen security on the border with Georgia to protect its citizens after the provocations from Tbilisi. This was announced to "Izvestia" by the President of the Transcaucasian country, Anatoly Bibilov. He has also noted that in order to solve the problem, South Ossetia will involve international organizations, including the UN and the OSCE. The current situation causes serious concern, since it can develop into a full-fledged conflict, the Russian and Georgian parliaments emphasized.

Last week, Tskhinval announced the illegal construction by Georgia of a checkpoint on the South Ossetian territory near the border village of Uista. Moreover, the State Security Committee of South Ossetia reported that on September 1, Georgian forces had shot down a South Ossetian unmanned aerial vehicle (quadcopter), patrolling the border with a neighboring country.

“The situation, let’s say so, is tense right on this section of the state border - in the area of the village of Uista. As for our assessment, this is definitely a provocation. The post was put up on the territory of South Ossetia, and there are maps of all periods since the times of the USSR, clearly and directly indicate that this is the territory of South Ossetia. And it is simply impossible not to see it. The only thing Georgia is seeking is an escalation of tension on the border with South Ossetia, "Anatoly Bibilov told “Izvestia “.

President of the Republic has added that South Ossetia is taking "steps that are aimed at enhancing the security of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia and doing everything to ensure the protection of this territory."

“We will focus our capabilities to protect citizens living in this village and, in principle, the whole Republic of South Ossetia,” said Anatoly Bibilov. “The whole point is that Georgia sees the opportunity to present all this tension on the border with South Ossetia as a problem "the occupation of Georgia. They constantly say this, although the realities are completely different. Georgia is still living in the historical period of 30 years ago and cannot assess the geopolitical alignment in the region."

In addition, the Georgian authorities with by their provocations want to "distract the population from tension within the country," says the President of South Ossetia. According to him, Tbilisi is trying to "create an external enemy that everyone needs to pay attention to and forget at least temporarily about internal problems."

“We have all the evidence of our rightness, and we will attract and will be attracting the international community, we will continue to bring our concerns to the European structures of the OSCE and the UN, which are and should be a deterrent for Georgians. But, unfortunately, we have not yet seen it. The Georgian leadership wants to move the internal problems of its country to the border with the Republic of South Ossetia, "he concluded.
