The fourth technical meeting in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) on the border between South Ossetia and Georgia on Friday ended to no avail, said Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation at the IPRM meetings.

"The only question on the agenda was the situation on the border in the area of the village of Uista (Tsnelis), where the Georgian police checkpoint was put up. The Georgian party refuses to remove this post, our position remains the same - the roadblock should be removed," Yegor Kochiev said.

In late August, South Ossetian authorities announced a provocation from the Georgian side - the illegal construction of roadblock in the South Ossetian territory near the border village of Uista and demanded its removal. At the three technical meetings in the IPRM format, the Georgian party did not compromise.

To ensure the safety of the local population, South Ossetia put up its post at one of the heights near the village and strengthened its presence in the border region.
