Law enforcement forces and border guards of South Ossetia, located on the border with Georgia, are carrying out a humanitarian operation to protect the population

The removal of the Georgian police post and the withdrawal of the Georgian armed forces from the territory of South Ossetia near the village of Tsnelis, where the Georgian police post is put up, will solve the problem, the head of the South Ossetian delegation said at meetings in the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) Yegor Kochiev upon completion another technical meeting.

“If the Georgian side takes this step, then the Ossetian side will take appropriate measures to relieve tension. South Ossetia has once again voiced a solution to the problem that has developed in connection with the establishment of a Georgian police post in the village of Tsnelis,” said Yegor Kochiev.

He has noted that the technical meeting did not lead to concrete results, the Georgian side refuses to make any talk about the removal of the post, citing the fact that the post allegedly does not threaten anyone, and there is a limited number of policemen there.

“This is absolutely unacceptable for the South Ossetian side. Armed people of the neighboring state of Georgia are located in South Ossetian territory, and South Ossetian law enforcement agencies will take all legal measures to ensure the security of the territory of South Ossetia and its population,” the head of the South Ossetian delegation said.

Who is on the border?

Journalists were interested in information regarding the strengthening of Georgian posts and the presence of the US military near the South Ossetian border. According to Yegor Kochiev, according to his information, there are no US military on the border of the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia. “Some movements on the territory of Georgia may be recorded, but they are not in the immediate vicinity of our borders. The other day, a delegation of PACE American diplomats came to Georgia, they once again examined the territory of South Ossetia with binoculars,” Kochiev added.

Conversation is to be place

According to the head of the South Ossetian delegation, the dialogue will continue, as it is necessary to talk and seek a solution to this issue exclusively by peaceful means.

“South Ossetia has always adhered to the principle of peaceful resolution of any disputes and conflicts. And our law enforcement forces and border guards located on the border with Georgia carry out a purely humanitarian operation to protect the population, ensuring their safety and providing them with the opportunity to live and work,” he stressed.

The next meeting, according to Kochiev, will take place supposedly at the end of the month, two dates were proposed, but the exact day has not yet been determined. “Additionally, this issue will be discussed on the hot line,” Yegor Kochiev said.
