The parade dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia is taking place in Tskhinval, along the central street - Moskovskaya. The parade is hosted by Defense Minister of the Republic, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Gasseev, commanded by the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Viktor Fedorov.

With words of congratulation, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic, President Anatoly Bibilov, addressed the inhabitants of the Republic.

The head of state reminded that the South Ossetian Autonomous Region was transformed into the Republic of South Ossetia by a resolution and a Declaration on State Sovereignty, adopted on September 20, 1990 by a session of the regional Council of People’s Deputies.

"This historic decision was a response to a number of steps taken by the Georgian authorities to eliminate South Ossetian autonomy. The radical nationalists, who had established total control in Georgia, relied on massive support from Georgian society. Their main ideas were the adoption of an ethnocratic regime and severe suppression of the non-Georgian population, the abolition of the autonomies and the secession of Georgia from the USSR, "the President said.

He noted that in the current conditions, the risk of a recurrence of events was obvious for Ossetians.

“We had to rely primarily on our own forces, the necessity of creating our own state structures capable of protecting the interests of the people was obvious. This task was solved by the adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of South Ossetia and the transformation of the autonomous region into a republic,” Bibilov emphasized.

According to him, today in Georgia they are again trying to rattle with weapons.

"For the sake of solving their domestic political problems, some figures in Tbilisi are ready for gross provocations. The recent actions of the security forces on the border, escalating tensions, are an obvious example. And it is not by chance that Georgia evades the signing of an agreement to renounce the use of force," the head of state said. - However, let the enemies do not count on an easy walk through the land of South Ossetia, today we have enough opportunities to repel to the potential aggressor. In addition, in accordance with the interstate dedicatory treaties and agreements, the armed aggression against South Ossetia would be tantamount to an attack on Russia. "

Anatoly Bibilov has noted that years have passed and new generations of sons and daughters of Ossetia worthily continue the traditions of those who founded and defended the Republic, contributed to the development and strengthening of the country.

"We pay a debt of gratitude to everyone thanks to whom we are celebrating this wonderful holiday, who should have rightfully shared today's celebration, but who are no longer in our ranks. The people will forever cherish the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, Russian soldiers, all those who gave their lives for the sake of peaceful and happy South Ossetia, "the President emphasized.

Representatives of Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Border Guard Service of the KGB, the Ministry of Emergencies, the Cadet School, as well as the servicemen of the Border Administration of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and the 4th Guards Military Base of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation marched at the parade.

September 20, South Ossetia is celebrating the 29th anniversary of the Republic. Large-scale celebrations are planned in Tskhinval - festivals, concerts, exhibitions, sports competitions and matches.

Guests from the capital of Russia, headed by the head of the Presidential Directorate for Cross-Border Cooperation Alexei Filatov, State Duma deputies, the delegation of North Ossetia headed by Vyacheslav Bitarov, also arrived representatives of the North Caucasus republics, the DPR, the LPR, Abkhazia and Transnistria. The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin and his wife are on an official three-day visit to Tskhinval.

On the occasion of the holidays, four days off from September 20 to 23 were announced in the Republic.

The border with Georgia at this time is completely closed, law enforcement agencies are transferred to an enhanced duty regime.
