Medoev spoke at a forum in Artsakh about the history of relations between Alania and Armenia

Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Masis Mayilyan, is participating in the Artsakh Friendship Forum for Cooperation for Justice and Peace, in Stepanakert, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia reports.

The forum is also attended by representatives of the Armenian diaspora of Tskhinval - members of the “Artsakh Friends Club” Cicero Khakhanov and Nonna Mkrtchyan.

At the opening of the forum, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan delivered a welcoming speech.

The President has emphasized that the creation of an independent, sovereign, strong state was and remains the basis of state building, the cornerstones of which are the unity of Artsakh with Armenia and the Diaspora and its commitment to democratic values ​​and principles. He has added that maintaining equally good relations both with Europe, the USA, Russia, and with regional states is an imperative for Artsakh.

Dmitry Medoev also addressed the meeting, who in his report touched upon the history of relations between Alania and Armenia, and also outlined the current state of relations between South Ossetia and Artsakh and the prospects for their further development.

For his great contribution to the establishment and development of bilateral relations between South Ossetia and Artsakh, Medoev awarded his Artsakh colleague with a medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RSO “For Contribution to International Cooperation”.

Representatives of the Russian Federation, the USA, France, Uruguay, Syria, Jordan, Brazil, Chile, Australia and other countries also spoke at the forum.

The work of the forum continues.

Within its framework, discussions will be held on the process of peaceful settlement and the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, as well as the possibilities of expanding the republic’s international relations in order to oppose Azerbaijan’s policy of isolation.

Following the results of the forum, a corresponding declaration will be adopted.

The purpose of the event is the expansion and strengthening of interaction with various regions and cities, as well as giving new impetus to the already existing international relations of Artsakh. The forum is attended by over 150 participants from almost 30 countries - representatives of political and social structures, friendship groups with Artsakh operating in different countries of the world, as well as those who recognized the independence of Artsakh or administrative-territorial units cooperating with the republic.

The Forum is co-organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Dashnaktsutyun”.
