South Ossetia will condemn the genocide committed against ethnic Ossetians at all venues accessible to it,” said the Head of State Anatoly Bibilov at a regular meeting of the Commission on memorialization of the Ossetian genocide.

“We must do everything possible to convey the facts of genocide to the world community and make every effort to recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people by Georgia,” said President Anatoly Bibilov.

“For the people of Ossetia, the 1920s of the last century were tragic, and the impunity of people who committed the act of genocide came back in the 1930s, 1990s, and in 2008. And it is correct to say that impunity generates further crimes. This crime should be condemned by the international community, but the most important task for Ossetians is to condemn and do everything themselves in the name of the memory of the victims of the genocide,” said Anatoly Bibilov.

According to him, everyone’s work in this direction is very important and necessary, not only for the current generation, but mostly for future generations. “Unfortunately, we forgot those tragic moments in the history of the Ossetians, but national self-awareness always prevailed, and we perfectly understood that if we forget our past, there will be no future. Therefore, the steps taken show that we will condemn the actions that took place in relation to ethnic Ossetians. This is a task not only of historians and scientific intelligentsia, but also of every citizen, person, regardless of nationality, living in Ossetia, both in the southern and northern parts,” the President noted.

State Advisor to the President David Gazzati said that all the emblem sketches proposed by the artists were posted on social networks and the population could vote for the one they liked. “But our task is to determine the emblem, as some further actions are associated with the adoption of the symbol of genocide. There was a heated discussion, each logo had supporters and opponents, each expressed its opinion,” he said.

For the convenience of the commission members, a large monitor was installed on which were shown the sketches of emblems. Each of those present chose one sketch. According to Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev, the emblem should work not only for one year, but every year. The President expressed the view that the symbol should be expressive and with deep meaning.

Ex-deputy Yuri Dzizzoyta believes that the sketch with the image of an eagle is the most suitable for the emblem. “It is simple, visually remembered, and there is a good symbolism - the eternal flame in which South Ossetia was burned, and the fire smoothly passes into an eagle with the state symbols. The eternal flame passes into the eagle, and the eagle -into the flame. This means that we will take revenge and are not broken in spirit,” said Dzizzoyty.

State Advisor to the President Konstantin Kochiev has noted the work of all artists who tried very hard and prepared good sketches. According to the historian Murat Dzhioev, the emblem should not be saturated.

Each of the members of the commission expressed his opinion - what should be the symbol of the genocide. The members of the commission chose the sketch of the emblem depicting an eagle by voting method.

The head of state urged everyone to actively continue the work within the framework of the general plan of measures for the 100th anniversary of the Ossetian people’s genocide. “There is not much time left, and therefore it is necessary to mobilize and submit a final plan of measures, including determining the financial burden,” Anatoly Bibilov emphasized.

director of the South-Ossetian Research Institute Robert Gagloyty, at the last meeting of the commission proposed to recreate the lost picture of 13 communards by Maharbek Tuganov This proposal was supported by the head of state. At today's meeting, he has noted that he was approached by the well-known artist Vadim Kadzhaev, who is ready to engage in the recreation of the picture. Anatoly Bibilov supported this proposal and asked Robert Gagloyty to discuss this issue with the artist. “Vadim Kadzhaev is the only artist - monumentalist, and I am ready to discuss with him the details and conditions for the recreation of the painting,” said Anatoly Bibilov.

Rector of the South-Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev, said that within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the Ossetian people’s genocide, on March 18, the day of the Ered tragedy, at the university will be held an international, large-scale conference with the participation of outstanding historians and professors, representatives of the scientific world.

Anatoly Bibilov has also reminded about tomorrow's date, noting that on March 6, 1993, North Ossetia recognized South Ossetia.
