Voting on amendments to the Russian Constitution has ended in South Ossetia

Voting stations for amendments to the Constitution of Russia closed exactly at 20:00 in South Ossetia, where more than 90% of Russians live. Despite the hot day, people showed high activity.

The Russian Embassy promises to provide information on the total number of people participating in the vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia closer to 23:00, after the completion of the counting of ballots.

On the polling station in the Embassy building in Tskhinval, civilians were given the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right. Two more polling stations were opened on the territory of the Russian military base in Tskhinval and the village of Dzau for the military personnel and their families.

As reported to IA "RES", by the head of the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy Sergey Alekseev, members of the election Commission are starting to count ballots.

"At the end of the counting and work of the precinct election commission, in accordance with the requirements established by the CEC of the Russian Federation, we will draw up a final protocol that we will send to Moscow on paper through diplomatic channels and we will already expect the results," said Alekseev.

According to the Chairman of the Election Commission, Alexander Zhurov, Russian citizens in South Ossetia were active during the voting.

"As for the overall figures, since June 25, about 8 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation have voted at polling stations," Zhurov told reporters. - I think that the figure will be higher, of course. We see that by their choice, citizens confirm the course of rapprochement between our countries - Russia and South Ossetia, and the building of allied relations."

It should be noted that in connection with the all-Russian voting on the approval of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, July 1, by the decree of President Anatoly Bibilov, was declared a day off in South Ossetia with salaries retained. The head of state Anatoly Bibilov also participated in the voting.
