For third-country nationals, restrictions on crossing the South Ossetian-Russian state border remain in effect pending appropriate decisions

On various parts of the state border of South Ossetia, 28 violators of the law in the border sphere were detained in September (in August 31), the press service of the Republic's KGB reported on Wednesday.

"Of these: 19 are violators of the state border regime, 9 are violators of the borderline regime," the special service reports.

The Border Service of the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia conducted proceedings for each violation of legal regimes.

“As a result of procedural activities, administrative measures were taken against violators of the existing administrative and legal regimes on the state border. As a result: 24 people were fined, two were expelled from the republic without penalties under Article 14 of the Law“ On the State Border of the RSO "Administrative cases were terminated in relation to two people," the Committee noted.

In accordance with the decree of the government of the Republic of South Ossetia No. 69 of August 31, 2020 and the order of the Russian government of September 12, 2020 No. 2338-r, from September 15, 2020, the previously imposed restrictions on crossing the South Ossetian-Russian state border for citizens of the RSO and RF have been lifted.

"At the same time, for citizens of third countries, restrictions on crossing the South Ossetian-Russian state border are still in force until the appropriate decisions are made by the governments of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation. In this regard, in order to comply with the rules of being on the territory of South Ossetia," the report says.

The Border Service of the KGB reminds foreigners of the need to extend the relevant permits in a timely manner.

The PS KGB reminds citizens and guests of the Republic who are planning their trips to places of rest, as well as to wedding and memorial events in settlements located in the border zone of South Ossetia, about the need to have identity documents (passport, official ID, certificate of birth for minors, and for foreign citizens - passes to the border zone.
