Issues of the ICRC humanitarian assistance to the population of South Ossetia in the context of the fight against the pandemic, primarily to residents of the territories bordering Georgia, were discussed on Friday at the meeting of the RSO Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for Post-Conflict Settlement Murat Dzhioev and Presidential Ombudsman Inal Tasoev with the head of the ICRC Office in the Republic Carmen Echezaretta.

“The South Ossetian party has noted with gratitude that the ICRC is the only international organization that offered real assistance to South Ossetia in the fight against the pandemic without any politicization of the issue,” the Plenipotentiary’s office said. “The participants in the meeting noted with satisfaction that, despite the restrictions due to the coronavirus, the Trilateral Coordinating Committee for the Investigation of the Fate of the Missing, operating under the auspices of the ICRC, continued its work this year.”

Other issues of a humanitarian nature were also discussed. The meeting was also attended by representative the ICRC office in the Republic of South Ossetia Nona Tedeeva.
