South Ossetia attaches great importance to the Geneva discussions in in ensuring the security and stability of the people of the Republic, and links lasting peace and security in the region as a whole with the Geneva process,” said Murat Dzhioev, the Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement, at the meeting with diplomats.

"The South Ossetian delegation comes to Geneva every time with an instruction from the leadership of South Ossetia to work actively and fruitfully, we set the same task at the meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic last year made it very difficult to work, during the year we were able to meet only once in Geneva. Let's hope that the situation this year will be better and the Geneva process will continue in a regular format, and the main task of the Geneva process - ensuring peace and security this year will receive its positive development, "said Dzhioev.

The Plenipotentiary has noted that this year he actively cooperated with Mrs. Annika Söder, co-chair of the OSCE, and "the impression was created that she had already been to South Ossetia several times."

The EU Co-Chair Toivo Klaar has noted that it is always pleasant for them to come to Tskhinval and conduct a dialogue with colleagues, expressing hope for fruitful extended discussions.

According to Annika Söder, representatives of the three organizations came to discuss issues that will be discussed at the upcoming round of the Geneva discussions. “The pandemic has slowed down the process, but I think this year we will be able to direct even more energy into the process. I am glad to have the opportunity to visit South Ossetia. We have already discussed topical issues via video link,” explained the OSCE Co-Chair.
