The State Security Committee of South Ossetia states that in the border area, in the vicinity of the settlement of Uista (Tsnelis) of Znaur district of the Republic, the Georgian side continues to strengthen the police roadblock with deployed infrastructure, guarded by members of the security forces of Georgia.

"So, this week additional special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, with a total of up to 20 people armed with small arms, have been introduced in the village of Kobi, Khashur municipality. Road vehicles are being observed, construction work is being carried out around the clock, Georgian police regularly conduct photo and video shooting of the South Ossetian territories, "the KGB press service said on Wednesday.

In addition, the KGB draws attention to the fact that the Georgian side deliberately and purposefully misinforms its population and imposes the opinion that the checkpoint of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is located near the village of Chorchan of the Khashur municipality (the village of Chorchana is 3 km from the scene of the incident).

"In reality, the checkpoint almost hangs over the South Ossetian village of Uista (200-300 m)," the press service said.

The State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia, in the framework of the measures taken, records and documents the illegal activities of the Georgian side to increase tension on the state border with Georgia.

"The Georgian side, instead of stopping illegal construction work, withdrawing its armed formations and de-escalating tension, continues to systematically increase its presence in the border zone of the Republic, thereby creating additional security threats, primarily for the local South Ossetian population, as well as members of the Georgian security forces located in the sectors of direct impact of the border forces of South Ossetia, "the intelligence agency said.

The KGB of the Republic informed the EU observer mission about the illegal actions of the Georgian side through the hotline of the incident prevention and response mechanism (IPRM).
