Over the past day, 176 people have been tested for COVID in South Ossetia; 51 showed a positive result, the head of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee, Marina Kochieva, told IA "Res" on Friday.

There have been detected 51 new cases of coronavirus disease in the Republic in a day. 40 people were removed from the medical register with a negative COVID-19 test in a day, there are 1699 people in total,” Kochieva said.

According to her, during the pandemic, 14191 people have been tested in the PCR laboratory of the South Ossetian Consumer Inspection.

The number of cases in the Republic has grown to 2542. In the "red zones" of the Republican Multidisciplinary Medical Center of South Ossetia, as of the morning of January 15, 60 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 are being treated. Currently, 21 patients are being treated in the infectious diseases building of the hospital, 39 in the building of the children's hospital. Five of them are in the intensive care unit.

Educational institutions in South Ossetia have started working fully on January 15, while the ban on holding mass events remains due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus. This decision was made at the meeting of the operational staff, chaired by President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov.
