In South Ossetia, on the day of the presidential election - April 10, at 8 am, 72 polling stations will be opened, where citizens of the Republic will be able to realize their right to vote.

Russian senators will take part in monitoring the presidential elections in South Ossetia scheduled for April 10. This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the Federation Council.

"In the period from April 8 to 11, senators of the Russian Federation will be taking part in monitoring the presidential elections in the Republic of South Ossetia. The delegation will be headed by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs," the report says.

A press conference was held in the capital of the Republic with the participation of the head of the Committee for Information and Press of South Ossetia, Maria Kotaeva, dedicated to the election campaign and its coverage in the media.

According to Kotaeva, there is great interest in the presidential elections in South Ossetia.

Members of the Russian Central Election Commission Anton Lopatin and Konstantin Mazurevsky will take part in the international observation of the presidential elections in South Ossetia next Sunday. This was reported by the press service of the CEC of the Russian Federation on Thursday.

Issues of consolidation of the society on the eve of the presidential elections were discussed at the meeting between President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and former head of state Eduard Kokoity, the press service of the President of South Ossetia reported.

According to Bibilov, despite the political discords with Kokoity, they will be serving one goal - the development and strengthening of South Ossetia.

"The action group has included four presidents of the Republic: current president Anatoly Bibilov, ex-presidents Ludwig Chibirov, Eduard Kokoity, Leonid Tibilov. The initiative group consists of only 26 people - political and public figures," the press Secretary said.
