Recently, the Georgian side has intensified efforts to discredit the Russian military presence in South Ossetia. The reasons for this are farfetched pretexts, and the only goal is to try to remove the main guarantor of the Republic's security from the territory of South Ossetia.
Russia's positions are attacked not only on international political platforms. Georgia has also made art as its weapon. Recently, it was widely announced the creation of the comedy "Teli and Toli", which was shot in North Ossetia. Russian border guards between two fictitious villages - Ossetian and Georgian - in the film are presented as an alien, unnecessary and inappropriate element.
Meanwhile, it is the Russian military presence that protects the South Ossetians from the repetition of the horrors of the 1991-1992 genocide, the wars of 2004 and 2008. It is the presence of Russian border guards that protects us from the policy of state terrorism of Georgia, the bitter fruits of which were fully tasted in 2004-2008.
The Border Guard Agency of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of South Ossetia have been protecting the border between South Ossetia and Georgia with the Border Guard Service of the State Security Committee of the RSO. The explanatory work is carried out with the residents of the border settlements in order to follow the South Ossetian legislation. The violators are detained, which is often due to information assistance of the local population. In a word, thanks to the help of Russian border guards, our border is locked!
The enemies try to make us forget that for almost 20 years of independence of South Ossetia, we have not established a border in the hope of a good neighborhood with Georgia, following the example of most modern European states, between which there are no state borders. But Georgia cruelly deceived our trust. First, it sent to our territory terrorists and saboteurs who committed terrorist attacks and killed fighters for independence and civilians. Then Georgia committed a full-scale military aggression against South Ossetia. At the same time, Georgia used even military aircraft against us, dropping tons of air bombs, including cassette ones, into South Ossetia.
The Russian Federation is the main guarantor of the security of South Ossetia. This aspect is most clearly manifested in the fact that before the appearance of Russian border guards and military bases in South Ossetia, shootings, shelling, and deaths of both Ossetians and Georgians went on every day. And with the Russian troops peace has come to South Ossetia, there are no more shelling and shooting, people can safely fall asleep, engage in peaceful affairs and no one else dies in skirmishes and under shelling. The role of Russia is also visible in the smooth functioning of the mechanism for ensuring the stability of vital components of the statehood of South Ossetia, none of which is able to perform its functions properly without constant close attention and concern from Russia.
This applies not only to security, but to the social sphere, education, science, public administration, health, culture, agriculture, etc.
But at the present stage, in conditions of a boiling surrounding world, peace is the most important for South Ossetia. South Ossetia, which was a pain point for more than 20 years, has become accustomed to the role of the peaceful region in the last nine years, despite Georgia's revanchist ambitions. Do not entertain yourself with pleasant illusions. The merit of peace in South Ossetia belongs only to Russia.
At the official request of South Ossetia after the 2008 war, Russia sent its military to ensure the safe life of the South Ossetians.
The servicemen of the 4th Russian military base, and the border guards are the main deterrent for the enemies of independent South Ossetia. Their presence in the Republic deprives any prospects of various kinds of "revanchists". Also, let's not forget that these are additional jobs for the local population, and the revival of long-standing traditions of friendship between Soviet, Russian military and border guards and residents of South Ossetia.
Russian military and border guards are eager to participate in various public events, which also contribute to the expansion of friendly and fraternal ties.
The annual demining of the territory of South Ossetia by the sappers of the "Leader" center of the EMERCOM of Russia has become a good tradition. This year, 30 hectares of land have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance. This work will continue.
Russians, like in peaceful Soviet times, come with pleasure to serve here with their families, bringing up their children with love for South Ossetia and its people. A piece of our country is forever in their hearts.
