In Sukhum, negotiations were held between the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and the Abkhaz leader Aslan Bzhania, the press service of the head of state reported.
The delegation of South Ossetia is taking part in the official events dedicated to the Victory and Independence Day of Abkhazia.
During the protocol part of the talks, Aslan Bzhania greeted the head of the South Ossetian state, noting the special importance of the participation of the South Ossetian delegation in the solemn events.
“Welcome to Abkhazia! I would like to thank you for the fact that on this very important day for the people of Abkhazia, for the peoples of the North Caucasus, for our brothers from South Ossetia, you are with us and share this holiday,” he said.
For his part, Anatoly Bibilov thanked Aslan Bzhania for the warm welcome, noting the high importance of the Victory and Independence Day.
“Without a doubt, this is a great holiday. It is associated with serious tragic events, with the loss of relatives and friends. But, nevertheless, this is a holiday, a holiday of victory in the Patriotic War.
I want to congratulate you once again on this day, congratulate the entire Abkhaz people and wish you victories in all directions, development in your beautiful state,” he said.
The events continued with talks in an expanded format.
The South Ossetian delegation has included Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev, Defense Minister Ibragim Gasseev, Presidential Adviser Dmitry Atroshchenko.
