"In November 1989, people were guided by the air of freedom ..."

South Ossetia has marked the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the national liberation movement for freedom and independence. November 23, 1989 at the entrance to Tskhinval gathered people's volunteer corps against Georgian nationalists led by Zviad Gamsakhurdia. The entire male population blocked the way to the Georgian armed groups. A small group of ordinary guys of Tskhinval, unarmed, holding hands, blocked the entry to the buses driving from Tbilisi to Tskhinval.

South Ossetian Consular Agency has opened in the capital of North Ossetia

November 21, in North Ossetia took place grand opening of the Consular Agency of the Republic of South Ossetia in Vladikavkaz.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of the RSO Domenty Kulumbegov, Foreign Minister David Sanakoev, Prime Minister of North Ossetia-Alania Sergei Takoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev.
"The opening of the first Consular Agency of South Ossetia in Vladikavkaz is not accidental, given that outside of the Republic, in North Ossetia reside or temporarily live a significant number of citizens of South Ossetia. Now they will be able to apply to the Consular Agency for solving problems related to legalization of documents, notary issues, with the issuance of temporary identity documents of a citizen of the Republic of South Ossetia and giving the right to enter (return) to the Republic, and so on ", - explained the press –service of the RSO Foreign Ministry.
The opening of the Consulate is an important step in development of inter-state South Ossetian-Russian relations and suggests that between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation continues to strengthen close cooperation in various fields.

Resident of Silicon Valley Alan Kharebov will give a master class for students and teachers of South Ossetian State University

In Tskhinval took place a working meeting of the Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev with the famous American engineer in the field of information technology, a native of South Ossetia Alan Kharebov. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Informatics of South Ossetian State University, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics Soslan Tabuev. It was reached an agreement of cooperation in the field of information technology. Alan Kharebov will give computer science master - class for students of the South Ossetian State University, students of the department of the "Applied Mathematics and Informatics", "Mathematics and Physics" and others.
In his interview with the news agency "Res" Vadim Tedeev has noted that a modern specialist must know the information technologies."
"Unfortunately, at the university due to lack of connectivity to fiber optic internet cannot be a stable high-speed access to global information resources, - said Vadim Tedeev. - It is not possible at the highest technical level to solve online the issues of conferences and other events. I am sure, in the near future in the country will be high-speed internet, which will allow to hold online not only scientific and other forums, but also remote lectures of leading specialists from Russia and other countries of the world."
Tedeev has also added that the visit of such an expert as Alan Kharebov to our university is a good opportunity to exchange experiences for employees of the Department of Informatics, Department of Information Technologies and the South Ossetian State University students.
Alan Kharebov, a native of South Ossetia, is the co-founder of a startup in medical field, a resident of the US Silicon Valley.
A few years ago Alan, along with his son Akhsar Kharebov created the project «Info meters», the basic idea of which was to provide data vital signs of a person by means of special devices and smartphone to medical institution, as well as to the attending medical doctor. In 2013 the company «Validic» proposed merging to the project "Info meters", that was a successful step, because the startup received another round of investment.

Opera diva Amagat Gotti will take part in the festival "Days of Culture of Ossetia" in Turkey

Opera singer, Honored Artist of North and South Ossetia Amagat Gotti (Irina Gotoeva) will take part in the International Festival of Arts "Culture Days of Ossetia in Turkey", which will be held in Istanbul November 26 - 30 . The festival will take place in the framework of the International Cultural Communication of regions of the North Caucasian Federal District.
In Istanbul Amagat Gotti will perform her favorite songs.
"Turkish Ossetians always welcome us warmly. It`s always nice to hold creative events among your close friends,"- she said, adding that the festival is held by the Union of choreographers of North Ossetia-Alania, supported by the RF Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture of North Ossetia-Alania, with the participation of the Ossetian society "Alan" in Istanbul. The highlight of the festival will be the performance of the State Academic Dance Group "Alan" under the direction of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Elbrus Kubalov.
The audience will be pleased with the performances of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation Bulat Gazdanov, People's Artist of North Ossetia-Alania Tasoltan Mamsurov, Honored Artists of North Ossetia-Alania Alan Albegov, Alla Khadikova, Ruslan Kabaloti. AS part of the festival will take place a theatrical fashion parade "New Era of Ancient Art" (national costumes of the peoples of the North Caucasus, made at the workshop of the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Isolda Gogichaeva).
In Istanbul will also open an exhibition of Ossetian decorative and applied arts.
The aim of the festival is the development and promotion of Ossetian cultural heritage, creativity of the Ossetian people, strengthening and development of friendship and cultural ties with compatriots living in Turkey.

In South Ossetia was held a meeting dedicated to the Day of National Unity and Courage

In South Ossetia has been held a meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the national liberation struggle for freedom and independence. This day is declared the Day of Courage and National Unity.
Today, at the entrance to Tskhinval on the Pris height at the memorial stone gathered members of the government, the participants of those events, hundreds of residents of the town. They laid flowers and wreaths to the glory of the heroes who had defended Tskhinval.
"November 23, 1989, we won the first victory over the enemy, which intended to wipe us off the face of the earth. Our guys did not retreat a single step, did not give a plot of their native land. This day is evidence of the courage and fortitude of the Ossetian people, "- said the Chairman of the Union of Ossetian Writers Meliton Casita.
He has noted that the Ossetian people at that time showed unprecedented unity that helped them to survive in the hardest struggle.
"We must not forget the names of those who gave their lives. Ossetia must unite and become a strong state,"- said the writer.
On behalf of the government and the President the participants of the meeting were addressed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Domenty Kulumbegov. He has noted that every nation has memorable and heroic dates that will forever remain in history.
"November 23, 1989, our neighbors did not want to hold any peaceful rallies here. They intended to frighten the Ossetian people, to break their will. But they forgot the history of our nation, the words of our ancestors that it is better to die defending their native land than let the enemy to conquer them,"- said Kulumbegov.
Ossetian guys showed unprecedented courage, facing unarmed the enemy.
"After that, South Ossetians went through many tragic dates – the Ered and Zar tragedies. On every street there are small monuments to our great heroes who gave their lives for South Ossetia. Thanks to their heroism and unity of our people, in August 2008, we achieved victory and independence. These guys have done their duty, and now we have to work for the prosperity of our Republic", - said Kulumbegov.
According to him, Russia is ready to help South Ossetia, but people should be united in the effort to achieve a brighter future, peace and prosperity.
Participants of the events of those events also congratulated people of the Republic and wished them cohesion and unity.
"Our efforts have not been in vain, we see that the younger generations live in a peaceful and independent of the Republic of South Ossetia", - said Anatoly Gagloev.
The State Choir of Boys under the President of South Ossetia sang patriotic songs.

Participants of the Geneva talks will continue to work on a document on the non-use of force

The co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia hope for progress in further work, in spite of the complex process of negotiation and the different interests of the parties, told the reporters in Tskhinval the EU co-chairman Herbert Salber.
He has noted that the previous round of discussions is successful, as the participants managed to express their positions on key issues on the agenda.
"At the upcoming round we will continue to work on the agreement on the non-use of force, which is very important for South Ossetia. We understand that the work is difficult, as all parties have their own interests and different positions,"- said Salber.
The EU representative has stressed that after the meetings in Georgia, where there have been recent reshuffle in the government, he does not think that Tbilisi will change its political orientation.
According to the UN representative Hailu Mamo, the co-chairs are optimistic, despite the upcoming hard work.
"I am confident that we will achieve results in all areas, including the agreement on the non-use of force," - he said.
He has also expressed hope that soon the negotiators will return to a discussion of the refugee problem within the framework of the Geneva discussions.
"The South Ossetian and Abkhaz sides have laid down conditions. These issues are discussed; we hope that sooner or later there will be a compromise that will allow us to discuss these issues in Geneva, as well as at other platforms. This is one of the important issues and all participants of the discussions have agreed with it, "- said the co-chair.
As for the work on the search for the missing persons, the OSCE co-chair Angelo Gnedinger has assured that he is doing everthing to clarify the fate of these people.
"We met with the relatives of the missing, and I am very disappointed that they still do not know anything about the fate of their loved ones. Mothers have the right to know what happened to their sons. We do our best to provide them with this information.
We are doing everything we can so that the Georgian authorities will continue to investigate these cases and this work did not stop, "- he said.
The next round of discussions is scheduled for December 9-10.
