Vadim Brovtsev: We will not allow anyone to disrupt the presidential election

Presidential elections in South Ossetia must be held March 25, 2011 in accordance with the current legislation and decisions of the Supreme Court and Parliament of the Republic. This has been declared by the Acting President of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev at the briefing in Tskhinval after the meeting with ex-presidential candidate Alla Dzhioeva. Acting President has pointed out that Alla Dzhioeva addressed to the public and personally to him, demanding categorically to implement supposedly legal procedures on transferring her power; she was also reporting about withdrawing her signature under the agreement between her and ex-President Eduard Kokoity on joint actions to resolve the political crisis in South Ossetia after the presidential election in November 2011. "In connection with this I have to state the following: all negotiations are meaningless if one party makes a decision alone.

Acting President of South Ossetia Vadim Brovtsev met with the ex-presidential candidate of South Ossetia, the leader of the South Ossetian opposition Alla Dzhioeva. The meeting was held behind closed doors. According to both sides, the dialogue was rather constructive. "We are grateful to the President for his positive steps. He has listened attentively to all our positions. Moreover, for the first time I heard this question: ''What are your suggestions? The dialogue will be continued. All the issues we identified have been perceived by Brovtsev positively, and we are looking forward for further constructive dialogue", - Dzhioeva told the journalists after the meeting. She added that she had handed over a package of documents, among them - the Supreme Court's decision on canceling the elections, - to the legal department of the president, so that they would offer their expertise.

Measures aimed at ensuring security and stability of socio-political situation in the presidential election in South Ossetia, on March 25, 2012, were discussed at the meeting of new staff of the Security Council of the Republic, which took place on December 23 in Tskhinval.
Besides the permanent members of the Security Council, the meeting was attended by the invited members of the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Security Council Secretary of the Russian Federation Valentin Sobolev. The meeting was also attended by Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Bukayev, as well as Russia's ambassador to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev.

The opposition rally has been postponed to Sunday

Several tens of supporters of ex-presidential candidate, the opposition leader of South Ossetia Alla Dzhioeva held the protest rally in the center of Tskhinval in connection with the actions of Parliament, which had voted against resignation of Attorney General Taymuraz Khugaev and the Chief Justice Atsamaz Bichenov on December 14. However, soon, the demonstrators decided to stop the action, as it was unauthorized; according to one of the leaders of the opposition - Sergey Zasseev - they are going officially ask the authorities for legal resolution and hold a rally on Sunday, if the points of the agreement have not been fulfilled.

South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity has officially announced his resignation at the meeting with the public of the Republic and delegated his authority to Prime Minister Vadim Brovtsev. "I'm leaving, but I will struggle for further consolidation of the society, for strengthening of the statehood of South Ossetia. I'm going to work even harder for the people, it is my aim in life-the aim for struggle, and each of us must be filled with a sense of duty that no political ambitions should be above the interests of people"- Kokoity said, addressing to the public.

The talks of the RSO ex-presidential candidate of the opposition Alla Dzhioeva and her supporters with the head of the Russian Presidential Administration for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Sergey Vinokurov have been completed in Tskhinval. Following the consultations Alla Dzhioeva told reporters that for the first time she was satisfied with the results of the talks. "We were listening and we were heard. We hope that the next round of the talks -more dynamic and positive, -will be held tomorrow, at 16.00, "- Dzhioeva has underlined. She noted that "the negotiations had started from scratch" and that the signing of decrees on resignation of several officials by the president of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity "will have a wholesome effect on the public mood.
