Georgian peacekeepers of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone left their positions in Tskhinval one our before the shelling of the capital of South Ossetian capital on the night from 3 to 4 July. As the correspondent of IA «Res» was informed at the press service of RSO President, JPKF Commandment was aware of Georgian observers’ intentions, but never informed Ossetian side.
«Georgian peacekeepers were aware of the shelling and left the town to avoid friendly fire. This simultaneously wrecks the monitoring on the fact of the cease-fire violation as the monitoring supposes participation of all sides of the conflict»-said at the President’s press service and add that Georgian peacekeepers acting in concert with Georgia’s power structures to destabilize the situation in the conflict zone.
«The stand of JPKF is rather bewildering, for they admit such a behavior of Georgian peacekeepers. Not only this was not stopped, moreover the information was not disclosed, although it could prevent human losses»-stressed at press service.
