The Central Election Committee (CEC) of South Ossetia has begun preparations for the presidential elections scheduled for March 25, 2012. As reported to IA "Res" by the RSO CEC Chairman Bella Plieva, the first meeting of the Committee has been held today with its previous composition.

"The Parliament has scheduled the new elections of President of the Republic of South Ossetia for March 25, 2012. In this regard, the Central Election Committee began its work in the same composition, which was working in the presidential election in November. In accordance with the current legislation of the Republic, we have defined the operating schedule of the CEC", - Plieva has told. According to her, the start date of accepting documents from applicants for the highest office of the state and thus the beginning of the pre-election campaign will be determined later. "The CEC, as before, will be accepting documents from the initiative groups of citizens and political parties",-the CEC head has informed. It should be noted that November13 and 27 two rounds of presidential elections were held in South Ossetia; November 29 the Supreme Court nullified the election. Parliament of South Ossetia has scheduled the date of the elections for March 25, 2012.
